The practice is to comb to the shorter fibers, and remove the impurities in cotton to create a smooth yarn, so that cotton is more tough, difficult to pilling, and cotton quality is more stable.

The combed cotton is made by specially treating the cotton fibres before being spun into yarn. There are numerous special treatment processes to soften the cotton fibres. Generally speaking, combed cotton is slightly more expensive than regular cotton.
